Spectral-selective quantum-dot photodiodes for 1550 nm LiDAR
Exact Link: https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/1149176
Summary: Monolithic tandem colloidal quantum-dot photodiodes deposited onto silicon substrates achieve narrow-band spectral selectivity at eye-safe 1550-nm IR wavelengths without optical bandpass filters. Multi-junction quantum-dot stack absorbs shortwave IR while suppressing ambient background noise, doubling signal-to-noise ratios in long-range detection systems. This filter-free detector architecture simplifies the scalable manufacturing of compact LiDAR sensors for autonomous vehicles.
