Common solvent chlorobenzene significantly improves power output when processing thermoelectric devices’ polymer films

"conventional thermoelectric devices rely on inorganic semiconductors which are expensive, but organic ones rely on polymer film cheaply processed from solution... polymers form crystalline regions in film, and device achieves best performance when these regions line up edge-on because charge can then move more easily from hot to cold end of device... ideal match for polythiophene polymer and 3 dopants, maximizing polymer’s desirable edge-on orientation... produces 20X more power"
