Adding a spatially varying alternating magnetic field to layers of twisted graphene creates additional magic angles and flat bands

"at specific twisted angles, by adjusting electron number, bilayer graphene acts as correlated insulator, superconductor where flat bands 2-fold degenerate (2 different quantum states having same energy)... this research introduces spatially alternating magnetic field where additional magic angles/ flat bands 4-fold degenerate... this higher degeneracy could potentially lead to even more correlated phenomena, and the magnetic phase offers an additional novel degree of freedom to tailor the electronic band structure"
