Researchers induced superconductivity at high temperatures on a chip with a laser beam

"connected thin films of K3C60 to photo-conductive switches with co-planar waveguides... response not linear, resistance of sample depends on applied current, a key feature of superconductivity... visible laser pulse triggers switch, sending strong electric pulse lasting 1 ps at around half speed of light through the solid... current pulse reached another switch which revealed characteristic electrical signatures of superconductivity... may lead to new devices based on this effect"
