Improved 3,000-qubit neutral atom array system reloads atoms continuously for more than two hours, preserving info even as atoms replaced

https://phys.org/news/2025-09-qubit-neutral-atom-array-reloads.html

"typically arrange neutral atoms like rubidium using optical tweezers, held under vacuum, used as qubits, but results in some atoms lost from entangling operation errors, state-readout, finite trap lifetime, necessitating performance limiting pulsed operation... overcome using dual optical lattice conveyor belt–like system transporting cold atoms into optical tweezers at 300K/ sec. reloading rate, then 30K qubits/ sec. continuously replenishing 3K-atom array... future: 5X faster, scalable to 10s of thousands atomic qubits"
