"hybrid circuit are initially two separate chips: (1) gallium arsenide semiconductor device hosts the quantum dots and directly funnels the single photons they generate into a (2) low-loss silicon nitride waveguide... to marry the two components, researchers used the fine metal tip of a pick-and-place microprobe, acting like a miniature crowbar, to pry the gallium arsenide device off of the first chip and place it atop the silicon nitride circuit of the second chip... larger, speedier, more reliable systems"
