"microwave irradiation, because it is a rapid and efficient alternative to conventional hydrothermal methods... made in 15 minutes using microwave irradiation, which is much shorter than the 18 hours needed in previous hydrothermal methods... can be dissolved in water and spin coated to deposit thin films of niobium pentoxide. When these films are heated to temperatures ranging from 200 to 1200°C, surfaces with varying corrosion resistance and electrochemical properties are obtained"
