"argon flows through interstitial spaces between material, in opposite direction to material motion, with material getting progressively hotter, and gas getting progressively cooler... thermal storage material exits heat exchanger, depressurized by second lock-hopper and sent to hot-side storage silo... leaves hot-side heat-exchanger and enters the expander where it drops pressure and temperature, recovered mechanical energy offsetting some of energy used by compressor...  unlimited in size and energy storage capacity"
